Method for producing liquid plaster mass from, for example, waste from processes in which mineral wool is used
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a method for recycling waste that largely comprises mineral wool (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mineral wool). As an extension thereof, the invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a liquid plaster mass (or stucco mass) and thereby producing a sound-absorbing surface layer (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound absorption). The invention further relates to devices which are specifically intended for carrying out the said methods.
The invention has its origin in the insight that waste which largely consists of mineral wool, for example waste from manufacturing processes in which plates or rolls of mineral wool are used and in which a substantial amount of residual waste is produced, that such waste can serve to be used for manufacturing of a liquid plaster mass which is eminently suitable for use, in particular by spraying, for forming a sound-absorbing surface layer. This relates to a method in which as one of the essential basic materials use is made of mineral wool that has been reduced to small units, for example shredded, cursed or chopped.
The method for producing a liquid plaster mass that forms the basis for a sound-absorbing surface layer can be carried out with reduced mineral wool that is extracted from residual waste, but in itself in a different way and / or from other sources.
BE2019 / 5044 sources can be produced, for example from new mineral wool. The method comprises the steps of:
- providing a mass (in other words amount, volume) of mineral wool reduced to small units (e.g. flakes, chips, etc.);
- providing a mass (in other words amount, volume) of liquid (e.g. dissolved in water) binder;
- mixing the mass of reduced mineral wool and the liquid binder mass with each other and any other ingredients and / or additives into a mixing mass;
- storing and / or using the mixing mass thus obtained as a liquid plaster mass for making a sound-absorbing surface layer (plaster or stucco layer) on a surface.
If, as discussed above, the method of fabricating liquid plaster mass for a sound-absorbing surface layer is part of resp. for the purpose of recycling mineral wool waste, in most cases it will be necessary for that method to comprise a (waste) wool reduction step, in which the waste comprising mineral wool is first sufficiently reduced (for example, cut or cursed). Only after that reduction of the mineral wool can the above steps be carried out in which the mass of reduced wool is mixed with a liquid binder, whereby the liquid plaster mass is obtained.
The present invention also includes a method for manufacturing a sound-absorbing surface layer by spraying, comprising the steps of:
- providing a spraying device adapted to be able to spray a liquid plaster mass on a surface manufactured in a method according to the invention, wherein the liquid plaster mass is supplied to a spray nozzle of the spraying device arranged around the supplied liquid plaster mass , too
BE2019 / 5044 together with a powerful air stream, can be driven out and thereby form the desired sound-absorbing surface layer against a surface.
The spraying device to be used preferably comprises an inlet for inlet of the liquid plaster mass, an air inlet for inlet of compressed air and a nozzle for outlet and spraying of the plaster mass and the compressed air.
Use can be made of a leveling device for leveling the sound-absorbing surface layer even before it is completely dried, which leveling device comprises, for example, a roller rotatable about a rotation axis which is provided on its round outer surface with elongated spacer elements having a length substantially equal to the intended thickness of the surface layer. Preferably, the leveling device also comprises a removal surface for the removal (smoothing) of the surface layer.
The invention will now be further discussed with reference to the figure description below.
Figure 1 shows a schematic illustration of the method including a spraying device according to the invention;
Figure 2 shows an exemplary embodiment of a leveling device according to the invention.
Figure 1 shows a schematic illustration of a process for carrying out the method for manufacturing a surface layer 1 with good sound-absorbing properties by means of a liquid plaster mass developed for this purpose.
BE2019 / 5044
This plaster mass is manufactured by, for example, first producing a mass of small units (e.g. flakes, chips, etc.) of mineral wool 4 in a module 2, for example by recycling mineral wool waste 3, whereby that wool waste 3 in module 2 is reduced by for example grinding, shredding, curse or cutting.
A module 5 provides a mass of liquid (preferably dissolved in water) binder 6, for example on a cellulose basis (see for example https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylcellulose glue).
In a mixing module 7, the ingredients from modules 3 and 4, i.e. the mass of mineral wool 4 reduced to particles and the mass of liquid binder 6, are mixed together to form a mixing mass
8. This mixing mass 8 can then be packaged in, for example, sealed buckets or cans 9 with which the liquid plaster mass 8 can be placed on the market for making sound-absorbing surface layers.
To actually make a sound-absorbing surface layer 1, a spraying device 10 is preferably used which is adapted to spray (12) the liquid plaster mass 8 against a surface 11, by supplying it to a nozzle 13 which is arranged around the feed driving liquid plaster mass 8 together with a powerful air stream 14 from the nozzle 13 and thereby forming the desired sound-absorbing surface layer 1 against the surface 11. The spraying device 10 comprises an inlet 15 for the inlet of the liquid plaster mass 8, an air inlet 16 for the inlet of compressed air 14 and a nozzle 13 for the outlet and thus spraying (12) of the plaster mass 8 and the compressed air 14. Through the compressed air 14 a good and light distribution of the plaster mass is obtained, which is essential for the sound-absorbing properties of the surface layer 1.
BE2019 / 5044
If it is preferred to additionally equalize the sound-absorbing surface layer 11, this can be carried out by an equalizing device which is adapted to equalize the surface layer 11 even before it is completely dried. Figure 2 shows an exemplary embodiment of such a leveling device, which comprises a roller 18 rotatable about an axis of rotation 17 which is provided on its round outer surface 19 with spacer elements 20 with a length which is substantially equal to the intended thickness d of the surface layer 1 applied to surface 11. In order to obtain a smooth finish of the surface layer 1, the leveling device is preferably provided with a rubbing varnish 21, which is adapted to rub off the surface of the surface layer 1.
The invention can thus provide a method for producing and marketing liquid plaster mass from, preferably (largely) from waste from processes using mineral wool, which plaster mass is eminently suitable for, in particular by spraying, be used to form a sound-absorbing surface layer.
The so-called Acoustic spray plaster (the plaster mass 8) preferably consists of mineral wool fibers, water and a cellulose-based binder plus a small amount of additives that guarantee the effect and shelf life. The layer thickness to be formed is approximately 15-30 mm. The product is non-flammable and highly vapor permeable. The product has a low specific gravity (approximately 0.85 kg / liter in the wet state), whereby it exerts a very low load on the substructure of the surface 1. With complete hardening, at least 75% of the weight disappears due to evaporation of the water.
The plaster mass 8 is one-component and therefore ready for use in a bucket or can 9.
BE2019 / 5044 6
The product is cradle to cradle since the surface layer 1 can be very easily removed from the surface 11 by means of parting. The product can then be ground again and reused as a raw material in the production of the same product.
